From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Stein served as the Worldwide President, COO, and Board member to Mattel, Inc., a $5bn world leader in children’s toys and software where his responsibilities included marketing and development of all global toy and software product lines, financial management, market distribution and partnership alliances across the company’s global network. While at Sony, he established key marketing strategies to leverage intellectual property rights for the Sony PlayStation with the consumer and among other Sony merchandising and marketing divisions. By acquiring Crash Bandicoot, he successfully broadened the target age range of the PlayStation. He lead the company through two acquisitions and following the Hasbro, Inc. acquisition he grew it to become their largest, most profitable company.
